Douglas Gray Artist

Following this year's Royal Society of Marine Artists exhibition in London, Douglas has been duly elected as a full member of this prestigious society.

Douglas has recently been commissioned by The Savoy hotel in London.

He was asked to create a painting that not only captured the famous views over the river and the city of London, but also the light reflection on water for which he is renowned.

The completed work is now on permanent display in the hotel's famed River Room - 'I've thoroughly enjoyed this commission' said Douglas, 'and I'm delighted to have my painting showcased in one of the world's most famous hotels'.

Claude Monet famously painted several views of the River Thames from his room on the upper floors of The Savoy during his many visits. As part of the recent refurbishment of the River Room, one of The Savoy’s elegant events rooms, we wanted to commission a contemporary, atmospheric view of the Thames using an artist with great traditional skill. Douglas Gray was the perfect choice and we are delighted with the result.'
